Aphrodite of Milos:\u00a0better known as the\u00a0Venus de Milo, is an\u00a0ancient Greek\u00a0statue and one of the most famous works of\u00a0ancient Greek sculpture. Initially, it was attributed to the sculptor\u00a0Praxiteles, however, from an inscription that was on its plinth, the statue is thought to be the work of\u00a0Alexandros of Antioch. Created sometime between 130 and 100 BC, the statue is believed to depict\u00a0Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love and beauty (Venus\u00a0to the\u00a0Romans). It is a\u00a0marble\u00a0sculpture, slightly larger than life-size at 203\u00a0cm (6\u00a0ft 8\u00a0in) high. Part of an arm and the original\u00a0plinth\u00a0were lost following its discovery. It is currently on permanent display at the\u00a0Louvre Museum\u00a0in Paris. The statue is named after the Greek island of\u00a0Milos, where it was discovered.<\/p>\n

\nThe construction of the statue begins with the creation of the mold. The mold is made by hand-crafted artisans and is an exact copy of the ancient statue. The prepared mixture of alabaster powder and resin is poured into the mold. The very fine dust of the alabaster allows us to make a copy with great precision in detail. The copy is then hand-crafted and perfected by our experienced craftsmen. The painting is then polished with indelible colors in white, museum patina or colored. The quality of the construction is of a high standard so that we have a perfect result that remains unchanged over time.
\nOur statues are not carved. Statues of natural marble carved in the hand are very expensive constructions. Our effort is to give you a product at a very good price with perfect construction. A perfect copy of the prototype with an emphasis on detail that does not hurt from time.<\/p>\n
