\nThe Cycladic idols are the first sample of art of the Ancient Greek civilization, found in the islands of Cyclades (2800-2300 BC). This art features female marble figures with their hands folded on their chests, symbolizing fertility and rejuvenation.<\/p>\n
The Cycladic islands of the Aegean were first inhabited by voyagers from Asia Minor around 3000 BCE and certain prosperity was achieved thanks to the wealth of natural resources on the islands such as gold, silver, copper, obsidian, and marble. This prosperity allowed for a flourishing of the arts and the uniqueness of Cycladic art is perhaps best illustrated by their clean-lined and minimalistic sculpture which is amongst the most distinctive art produced throughout the Bronze Age Aegean. These figurines were produced from 3000 BCE until around 2000 BCE when the islands became increasingly influenced by the Minoan civilization based on Crete. Small statuettes were sculpted from local coarse-grained marble and although different forms were produced, all share the same characteristics of being highly stylized with only the most general and prominent body features represented. The earliest examples were produced in the Neolithic period and were made until around 2500 BCE.<\/p>\n

\nThe construction of the statue begins with the creation of the mold. The mold is made by hand-crafted artisans and is an exact copy of the ancient statue. The prepared mixture of alabaster powder and resin is poured into the mold. The very fine dust of the alabaster allows us to make a copy with great precision in detail. The copy is then hand-crafted and perfected by our experienced craftsmen. The painting is then polished with indelible colors in white, museum patina or colored. The quality of the construction is of a high standard so that we have a perfect result that remains unchanged over time.
\nThis statue are not carved. Statues of natural marble carved in the hand are very expensive constructions. Our effort is to give you a product at a very good price with perfect construction. A perfect copy of the prototype with an emphasis on detail that does not hurt from time.<\/p>\n
